Sweet Kolby came to us on a calm Sunday night. Calm for us, that is, as she was left on the side of the road to fend for herself. Dumped at a rock yard, kept company and fed by a friendly security guard, she hung around until scooped up by some concerned animal lovers. She was friendly, yet scared and feared vehicles. Beautiful, but dirty with a mangled, docked tail and evidence that puppies had been part of her past. She was given a bath, treats, dinner, and a cozy place to sleep. She’s an easy going pup that prefers to lounge on the couch than bark at the neighbors. A guaranteed meal, warm bed, and playtime seems to make for an ideal life. At her vet check, she received vaccines while techs raved about her laid back demeanor. All was well until terrible news arrived; she tested positive for heartworms. Clearly, an indication of a previous life lacking love and care. Heartworms manifest themselves within the arteries of the heart and lungs, leading to congestive heart failure. Without treatment, death is almost certain. At only 2 years old, if there is a pup that deserves a second chance, it’s the lovely Kolby. Please help support us give this girl the life she deserves and so desperately wants!
